Measuring with Optical Oxygen Sensor

We are participating: the deadline for submission of the proposal for the application for REXUS/BEXUS programme will be in three weeks. Therefore, we are currently working on formulating the proposal. Also, we started some last experiments.

Our plan: bringing foraminifera into space and exposing them to weightlessness.

During our last experiment, there wasn’t enough oxygon in the water – and foraminifera need oxygon to survive. To investigate this problem we are currently measuring the oxygen content of the water every 30 minutes with an Optical Oxygen Sensor. Due to the exact measurement results we are able to see if they have enough oxygen – that is essential for the success of our experiment

We would like to thank PyroScience GmbH for sponsoring the sensor.

We eagerly expect the measurement results and will keep you posted.
